The Reading / Listening - Level 2

An annual report has listed the top 25 companies in the USA to work for. It ranked the best places to work in 2014 by asking about employee satisfaction. Top of the list was Google, which is well known for its excellent working conditions. Google knocked Facebook off of the number one position. A Google software engineer earns an average of $119,000 a year. He or she also goes to the gym for free and has a place which looks after pets when the employee goes on holiday. One ex-employee said Google staff are so happy that it is unusual for anyone to take time off.

Another survey shows a different picture. The careers website Glassdoor asked employees to rate their happiness with their company, career opportunities, and pay, etc. It found that the consulting firm Bain and Company was the best place to work. A Bain and Co. spokesperson said he was very proud to be named number one. He said that for over 40 years, the company has focused on a professional work experience. This has made the company grow. He said the main goal of the employees was to make their clients around the world happy.
