The Reading / Listening - Level 0

A leopard attacked a woman in India. She killed it. Kamla Devi, 56, was getting water. The cat jumped on her. She fought it for 30 minutes. Finally, the cat died. She is now in hospital. She has many bites and cuts, and two broken hands. Devi said: "I thought I was dead, but I did not lose patience and courage."

Doctors are surprised she survived. Most people do not survive a leopard attack. Her doctor said she has bite marks all over her body. She needed over 100 stitches. She is OK now. One of her friends said: "She is very brave." Another man said she was strong. She lost a lot of blood, but she walked for one kilometre.
