READING:

The number of jobless 15-24-year-olds is very high. Over 73 million want to work but cannot find a job. Youth unemployment is coming down in rich countries, but rising in poorer countries. In China, it was 10.6 per cent last year and could be 11.1 per cent in 2016. In Brazil, the figure went up 2 per cent this year.

It is hard to be young and looking for work. It is worst for women. The unemployment figure for young women in the Middle East is around 45 per cent. One big reason is the global financial collapse of 2008. Youth unemployment isn't just bad for the economy. It is also bad for health, peace and happiness.
