READING:

People hate telephone calls from companies trying to sell things. These calls are called 'nuisance calls'. Britain wants to stop them. It wants to stop companies hiding their telephone number. People could report companies who make nuisance calls. In the future, nuisance callers could get a fine of up to $720,000.

Around 75% of people in Britain get monthly cold calls. This number is increasing. One company made 40 million cold calls in three months. A British politician said: "There is no simple solution to the problem." She said companies should show their number. She added that these calls made some people angry and sad.
