Players say racism and homophobia common in football
Football players in England said there is a lot of racism and homophobia in football. Over 200 players answered a questionnaire. Over half of them regularly see racism and homophobia. Around 25% get bad comments. One in five see it from their teammates. Players said the police should do more at football matches. Things are slowly getting better, but players want more progress. One player said there was less racism and homophobia now than before. He said discrimination is at all clubs. Both players and fans used racist and homophobic language. He said this way of thinking was from the "dark ages". |
