Turkey court says Twitter helps free speech
A court in Turkey said a ban on Twitter damages free speech. Turkey blocked Twitter in March. The Prime Minister was angry with tweets people made before the country's elections. The posts could be embarrassing. Mr Erdogan doesn't like social media. He said: "We will wipe out Twitter." He doesn't care what anyone thinks. Turks found different ways to use Twitter. The number of tweets went up after the ban. Now they are down by half. Many Turks are angry because of the Twitter ban. The court said everyone has the right to say what they want to say. Twitter tweeted: "We hope to have Twitter access restored in Turkey soon." |
