Jamaica sprinter Oblique Seville wins world 100m gold

Jamaica's Oblique Seville won 100-metre gold at the World Athletics Championships. Usain Bolt was the last Jamaican man to win a sprint gold, in 2016. Bolt is the 100-metre record holder, with a time of 9.58 seconds. Seville won in a time of 9.77 seconds. It was a good night for Jamaica, which also won silver in the 100 metres.

Seville said: "I feel really…excited that the gold is coming home to Jamaica." He added: "I have proved that I am a true competitor." He said: "I knew…the others would not catch me." He was happy to win in front of Bolt. Jamaica's one-two finish means a golden era for Jamaican sprinting is coming.
