World's tallest bridge opens in China
A record-breaking bridge has opened in China. The Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge in Guizhou Province is the world's tallest bridge. It stands at a height of 625 metres. The 2,890-metre-long bridge also has the longest span of any bridge ever constructed in the mountains. Its main span stretches 1,420 metres. The bridge will greatly improve the rural economy. It will also cut the travel time between the two sides of the bridge from two hours to two minutes. |
