People's loud music on public transport has become annoying for many commuters. Singapore has introduced fines of up to S$500 for music on buses that annoys other passengers. The fines will also apply to anti-social behaviour such as putting feet on seats and littering. Singapore's government said the fines would help create a "more considerate and pleasant public transport environment". It added: "Every commuter has a part to play."

The government decided that bus drivers should focus on operating buses safely. However, drivers will be able to ask inconsiderate passengers to get off the bus. Many commuters were happy with the new fines. A 29-year-old who has to travel to Singapore's airport by bus told a newspaper: "I saw the new rules and I thought, 'Thank God'." Another commuter said: "I just want to get to work without listening to other people's irritating music."
