Cameroon 1 Netherlands 2 (24th June, 2010)

The Netherlands eased into the last 16 with a comfortable 2-1 win against a Cameroon team who were already out of the tournament. They join Argentina as the only teams with a 100% record. They were made to fight for this win. Cameroon looked like they wanted to restore some pride to their tournament by getting at least a point in South Africa. They came close. The Dutch opened the scoring on 36 minutes when Robin Van Persie struck the ball through Cameroon ‘keeper Hamidou Souleymanou’s legs. Cameroon came out looking for an equalizer after the break. They got a penalty in the 65th minute after Van der Vaart handled the ball in the area. Samuel Eto’o stepped up to fire the ball in the back of the net. Klaas-Jan Huntelaar sealed things for the Netherlands with his 83rd-minute winner.
