Denmark 0 Netherlands 2 (14th June, 2010)

This was the all-European clash between the Netherlands and Denmark in Soccer City, Soweto. Both teams were very cautious in the first half. The Dutch had most of the possession but the Danes had the best of the few goal scoring chances. Too many shots on goal ended up going way over. There has been talk of the new World Cup ball being too light. The first goal came early in the second half when Danish defender Simon Poulson headed into his own net. The ball took a deflection off teammate Daniel Agger’s back. Holland kept the ball well after the break. They kept on pushing forward. Their second goal came in the 85th minute when Dirk Kuyt slotted home a ball that rebounded off the post after a Wesley Sneijder shot. All three points to the Dutch.
