This game had the potential to be highly entertaining and it didn’t disappoint. The Netherlands booked their place in the last four with an exciting second-half comeback. Brazil took the lead in the tenth minute when a pass from Felipe Melo found Robinho on his own on the edge of the area. The striker turned and struck the ball past the Netherlands’ goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg. A second nearly came with a brilliant shot from Kaka that forced an outstanding save from Stekelenburg. The Netherlands came out fighting after the break. Wesley Sneijder floated in a cross from the right wing that Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar looked favourite to collect, until Felipe Melo got in his way and headed the ball into the back of the net for an own goal. Melo then got set off for stamping on Arjen Robben. Sneijder scored the winner in the 68th minute to put his team into the semi-finals.
