The North American of India’s version of the Academy Awards has in an extravagant closing ceremony. Bollywood’s A-listers attended the 12th International Indian Film Academy in Toronto, Canada, and hailed it as a success. Up to 22,000 fans attended the show to see their favourite Bollywood . Award-winning Indian heartthrob Arjun Rampal said he was thrilled the fans’ reception, saying: “This is even better than in India…I have never seen energy and devotion. I don't think we would get such a welcome in any other part of the world.” Compere Anushka Sharma said she was a bundle of on stage. “I almost had a blackout yesterday. I was so nervous,” she said.

The movies ‘Dabangg’ and ‘My Name is Khan’ were the winners at the awards. The Best Actor went to Shah Rukh Khan for his in My Name is Khan. The movie also picked best director for Karan Johar. Veteran actor Sharmila Tagore scooped the award for Outstanding Achievement for her four in Indian film. Hollywood was also at Bollywood’s big night. Oscar winner Hilary Swank the audience she would like to be in a Bollywood movie and : "I am not a good singer though.” Ms Swank said: "I love all kinds of cinema and I think cinema people from around the world together.” Actor Cuba Gooding Jr was also on stage and said: “I love the Bollywood films take their to tell the stories well.”
