Australia’s most wanted man has been captured and by police in New South Wales. Malcolm Naden, 38, had been on the for seven years after being the suspect in the murder of his cousin in 2005. He is also accused of a of other crimes. The former fugitive avoided being caught by in dense forests and living off the land. Mr Naden was by police after a hiding in an abandoned house about 260 kilometers north of Sydney. It ended a long for him that intensified in December when police say he shot and an officer. Fifty policemen were assigned to hunt him . Police found a weapon at the property but no shots were during his arrest.

Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione called Naden a “master bushman” for his to survive in the . He said it had been so difficult to catch Naden because of his knowledge of the uninhabited terrain he lived in. Scipione said: “He has been in this area for a of years. He knows it better than the of his hand.” New South Wales Premier Barry O’Farrell the police for their non-stop , saying: “This arrest shows that the…police force always gets their man.” Naden’s lawyer Michael Jones said his was in reasonable health but was very tired and injured. “He's got serious marks on both legs inflicted by police dogs at the time of his arrest,” Jones said.
