The United Kingdom’s royal family has started proceedings against 'Closer,' the French magazine that photos of Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless. A photographer snapped photos of the duchess while she was on the balcony of a villa in France with her husband Prince William. The two thought they were well away from eyes, but a freelance cameraman managed to in on the . A statement from William’s office called the publication of the photographs “ and totally unjustifiable” and it to, “the worst excesses of the press and paparazzi the life of Diana, Princess of Wales”.

However, it is known that Prince William intended to do everything possible to his wife from the kind of non-stop that eventually led to the death of his mother in a car crash in Paris in 1997. Meanwhile, other publications have said they would publish the photos. Italy’s ‘Chi’ magazine is set to 26 pages to them in its issue. Both ‘Closer’ and ‘Chi’ belong to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's group. An of the ‘Irish Daily Star’ said: “She's one of the most photographed people in the world and she decides to disrobe on a balcony…Of course people are going to be interested in this."
