World's largest building opens in China (3rd July, 2013)

China has many of the biggest things in the world. Now it has a new one - the world's largest building. It is called the New Century Global Center. It opened this week in Chengdu. It is 500 meters long, 400 meters wide and 100 meters high. It is very, very, very big. Twenty Sydney Opera Houses can go inside it. It is almost three times bigger than the Pentagon. Thousands of workers built it in three years. It will make Chengdu a 21st-century city.

The inside of the center is like a small city. There are 400,000 square meters of shopping space, a 15-screen movie theater and an ice rink. There are also offices, hotels, a Mediterranean village and a water park. The owners want to bring business and tourists from across the world to Chengdu. It will make Chengdu famous. Fourteen million people live in the city. It is an important place for business. Chengdu is also home to many giant pandas.
