Typewriters to stop Russian computer leaks (15th July, 2013)

Western newspapers say Russia will use typewriters to stop computer leaks. Russian newspapers disagree. The BBC said Russia's intelligence service (FSO) bought the typewriters because of WikiLeaks. Russia said it would use paper more to keep its secrets safe. Someone also spied on its prime minister in London.

The Kremlin said the typewriters cost $14,800. It bought them a year ago. The FSO said it always uses typewriters. It was time to change them because the old ones were out of date. It was not because of WikiLeaks. The FSO said this wasn't unusual. Someone joked that a padlock is better than an expensive security system.
