Ex-US President shaves head to help boy (27th July, 2013)

Ex-U.S. President George H.W. Bush shaved his head for a 2-year-old boy. He is the son of a bodyguard. He has leukemia - a blood disease. Treatment for it makes your hair fall out. Bush now looks like the boy. Bush helped with his hospital bills. People can help on a website started by other bodyguards. They also shaved their head.

Mr Bush's daughter died from leukemia 60 years ago. She was four. Bush worked hard for leukemia research. In 2004, he opened a special clinic in Texas. Leukemia is like a blood cancer. Anyone can get it. It killed many people. In 2000, leukemia killed 209,000 people. Today people can go to hospital. It's easier to help children.
