Blobfish are the ugliest animals (17th September, 2013)

People looked at videos of ugly creatures. They chose the blobfish as the world's ugliest animal. The blobfish is the mascot of a group that helps animals. It wanted an ugly mascot. It wants us to know ugly animals are in danger. It said we always care about cute animals. The blobfish will help us think about ugly animals.

Blobfish live near Australia and New Zealand. They stay 600 to 1,200 metres deep. They grow up to 30cm long. They have large heads and small bodies. They are like a big jelly. They eat small crabs and shellfish. Humans do not eat blobfish, but many blobfish die in fishing nets. Scientists are worried blobfish are in danger.
