The BBC has big plans for the 100 years since World War I (WWI). It plans to make 2,500 hours of new shows. We can see them between 2014 and 2018. The BBC said we will learn something new about the war. It wants people to understand more about it. It also wants to tell old and new stories.

WWI was mostly in Europe. It began in 1914 and ended in 1918. It was called the "Great War". Over 9 million soldiers died. It is the fifth-deadliest war. Over 70 million people fought in it. The United States joined in 1917. After the war, countries changed and new nations were created. This was one of the reasons for World War II.
