The Reading / Listening - Level 0

Lakhdar Brahimi said sorry to Syrians. His job was to help end the civil war. It is the second time the government and rebels have talked. There are many problems. Syrians want a peace deal, not more fighting. Over 140,000 have died and three million need help. Mr Brahimi told both sides to think more carefully.

Both sides are angry. Mr Brahimi asked if they wanted to talk again. There is no date for more talks. The UK said it was very sad that there is no peace. Rebels said Syria's government was not serious. They said nothing positive happened. Syria's government called the rebels "amateurs". Mr Brahimi hopes there will be more talks.
