READING:

A publisher wants to print all of the articles from Wikipedia.com in 1,000 books, each with 1,200 pages. Wikipedia has over 4.3 million articles and 2.6 billion words. Over 20 million volunteers helped to write it. The publisher, PediaPress, says there will be nearly 1.2 million pages. The page numbers will run from number one to number 1,193,014. PediaPress needs $50,000 for the project. It wants people to donate money so it can print the first copy. The company has already printed number one of the thousand books. It has the articles from "A" to "A76 motorway".

Many people are asking why PediaPress wants to print such a huge website. It will be out of date when it starts printing. A PediaPress spokesman said the company wants to show just how big Wikipedia really is. He said the best way to experience the size of Wikipedia is by changing it into physical books. He added that the printed edition would be "record breaking". It will contain the most volumes and be edited by the largest number of contributors. PediaPress may take the books on a world tour. After that, it will donate them to a big public library.
