Panasonic's Japanese staff in China will get "pollution pay". This is because of China's pollution. No one knows who will get the pay, or how much it is. Workers who work in other countries usually get extra pay. Panasonic is the first company to give money because of pollution. Other companies might copy Panasonic.

Pollution is a big problem in China. It is 15 times higher than healthy levels. China is fighting a "war on pollution" in almost every big city. Why is China's pollution so bad? There are thousands more factories now. China uses a lot of coal. There are also thousands more cars on China's roads.
