The Reading / Listening - Level 0

A survey shows what British people are afraid of. Top of the list is high places. Over half of people said they were afraid of heights. Second was a fear of snakes and third was public speaking. Other things include spiders, mice, blood, flying, and being in small spaces. Number ten was the fear of clowns.

Over 2,000 people answered questions about fears. There were big differences between men and women, and between old and young people. Women were afraid of more things than men. Spiders scare 33% of men and 52% of women. Young people are more afraid of public speaking. Older people are more afraid of heights.
