Ecotourism is booming and many operators say this is to nature. Every year, of people visit protected, natural areas to observe species. However, a new report casts on this form of tourism. The report, published in the 'Trends in Ecology and Evolution,' suggests that ecotourism damages than helps nature. Researchers believe tourists disrupt animals in their habitat. They pointed to a recent event in Costa Rica where turtles had laying their eggs because of the many tourists who had gathered on the beach to watch .

The report says that ecotourism is making animals . A human makes animals tamer and less about other animals. This could put them at risk of being attacked by their predators, so more of them will be killed. The report said that when animals interact with humans, "they may let down their ". The report also said it was , "to develop a more understanding of how species in different respond to human visitation, and under what precise conditions human might put them at risk".
