Police at for in of on to with Belgium say they have arrested two people suspected at for in of on to with planning terror attacks at for in of on to with Brussels on New Year's Eve. Police initially made six arrests but later released four without charge. Investigators found military clothing and Islamic State propaganda at for in of on to with the houses, but no weapons or explosives. They issued a statement, saying: "Our investigation revealed serious threats at for in of on to with an attack at for in of on to with symbolic places at for in of on to with Brussels during the celebrations at for in of on to with New Year's Eve." The two suspects were arrested following searches Sunday and Monday at for in of on to with Brussels and across Belgium. The police did not say whether the suspects were male or female, nor if they were looking at for in of on to with other suspects. The arrests are not linked at for in of on to with the November Paris attacks at for in of on to with which 130 people were killed. Brussels has been at for in of on to with high alert since those attacks, at for in of on to with intelligence reports suggesting an attack of some kind was coming. at for in of on to with the wake at for in of on to with the Paris attacks, schools, universities and the Metro were shut down at for in of on to with Brussels at for in of on to with several days in November. The city was put at for in of on to with the highest state of alert as authorities warned at for in of on to with a "serious and imminent" terror threat. Brussels has also been at for in of on to with the centre of investigations into the Paris attacks after it emerged that two at for in of on to with the Paris suicide bombers had lived in Belgium. Other major European cities are also at for in of on to with alert and police have warned citizens to be vigilant.
