However, there could be problems aheadasatbeyondforinnearofontoupwithout for mining companies. The Outer Space Treaty of 1967 says that natural resources aheadasatbeyondforinnearofontoupwithout space are part aheadasatbeyondforinnearofontoupwithout mankind's 'common heritage'. This means private companies may not be able to mine asteroids.
