World leaders congratulated Donald Trump on his win in the U.S. election on Tuesday. Mr Trump beat his rival Hillary Clinton to become the USA's 45th President. He will become President on January 20, 2017. He will be 70 years, 7 months and 6 days old - the oldest person to become President. In his victory speech, Mr Trump said: "Working together, we will begin the urgent task of rebuilding our nation and renewing the American dream. [We will] have the strongest economy anywhere in the world….We will get along with all other nations willing to get along with us."

Russia's Vladimir Putin was among the first to congratulate Mr Trump. He said he wanted to develop Russian-American relations. China said it looked forward to working, "in a constructive way that avoided conflict". The Mexican President said Mexico and the USA were friends and partners and they should keep working together. France's President said the election result, "opens a period of uncertainty". Germany's Justice Minister tweeted: "The world won't end, but things will get more crazy." Japan's Prime Minister said: "Hand in hand with Mr Trump, we will try to work together."
