A Korean band got to number one in the U.S. album charts for the first time. The band BTS debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with their album, "Love Yourself: Tear". They released their album on May 18. It sold 135,000 copies in one week. The album is the second top-10 hit for K-pop. The first was also by BTS. The group thanked fans by tweeting: "It's wonderful and very overwhelming. Thank you everyone....We will keep doing our best."
BTS started in 2013. They quickly became a big success in Korea with their debut song. They won several new artist awards. Their popularity spread and they got many fans in Japan and the USA. They have many followers on social media. They broke the record for the most re-tweeted artist. They were also the world's most tweeted about celebrities, with half a billion likes or re-tweets. BTS' new album is mostly in Korean, but they sold out tours in the USA.
