Brazil 3 Chile 0 (28th June, 2010)

Brazil eased into the quarter-finals with this comfortable win over fellow South Americans Chile. Apart from the opening few minutes, the Chileans never troubled Brazil. They were a shadow of the side that played with such dynamism in the previous three games. Their quick passing and movement was missing. Perhaps it was because three key players were suspended. Brazil showed flashes of brilliance in their play as they controlled most of the match. They opened the scoring on 34 minutes when Juan rose to meet a Macion corner and powerfully head the ball home. Luis Fabiano made the game safe four minutes later for the Brazilians, putting the ball into the back of the net after some dazzling passing between Robhino and Kaka. Robhino finished off the scoring and opened his World Cup account on the hour mark. Brazil now face the much-fancied Netherlands in the next round.
