The Reading / Listening - Level 0

People everywhere are sad because Nelson Mandela died. People are saying goodbye to a man they loved. They danced, sang, cried and prayed. Mr Mandela was 95. South Africa's president said: "Our nation has lost its greatest son." Mr Mandela worked for equal rights. He was in jail for 27 years, and then became president.

World leaders said thank you to Mr Mandela. One said: "God was so good to us…by giving us Nelson Mandela." Barack Obama said he did many great things. The UN leader said he showed what is possible if we believe, dream and work together. Britain's leader called him a hero and that "a great light has gone out in the world".
