The Japanese car Nissan has unveiled a of a self-cleaning paint that may mean the of car washing. The new paint repels water, oil and other . It is called Ultra-Ever Dry and uses a called nanopatterning. This coats with tiny bumps and that stop water and oil from sticking to them. Nissan said the paint has "responded " to many weather , including frost and sleet. It added that its engineers will continue testing the paint in the near . They will see how close they can get to a product ready for market.

Nissan said: "Washing a car can be a – and a one at that." It has no plans to use the new paint as on its cars, but it may be an in the future. A company spokeswoman said the paint is being tested on the Note car. She said: "The Nissan Note has been carefully engineered to take the out of customer driving, and Nissan's engineers are thinking of new ways to make families' lives ." She added: "We are committed to addressing problems our customers face and will always consider testing exciting, cutting-edge ."
