The Reading / Listening - Twitter - Level 1

Elon Musk, the world's richest person, bought Twitter for $44 billion. On April the 4th, he bought 9 per cent of Twitter for $2.6 billion. Twitter's value then went up by 27 per cent. Musk wanted the whole company, but the company said no. However, on April the 25th, the company said yes. Musk is number seven on the list of Twitter's most-followed people, with 84 million followers. Former U.S. President Barack Obama is top, with 131 million followers.

Mr Musk wants more free speech on Twitter. He aims to remove spam bots. These tweet false information to people. They also spread conspiracy theories about vaccinations and other things. Mr Musk wants to introduce new ideas. Many people are asking if Musk will let former U.S. President Donald Trump use Twitter again. He was banned in 2021. Human rights groups say a more open Twitter could mean more hate speech.
