The Reading / Listening - Level 0

Elephants are in danger. Many elephants in Africa are dying. People kill them and sell the ivory from their tusks. The USA wants to stop this. On Thursday, the USA burnt 6,000 kilograms of ivory. The USA told people to stop killing elephants. This is difficult to stop. The USA will give $1 million to catch a group that sells ivory.

Conservationists (people who want to protect animals) say elephant killers must not make money. A conservation group said it is important to stop people selling ivory. If no one sells it, elephants will live. The world banned selling and buying ivory in 1989. This has helped elephants, but the world needs to do more.
