It's a lot colder than freezing. Antarctica is 50 degrees colder than Siberia. The coldest temperature on the Moon was minus 238 degrees Celsius.
The record temperatures won't be in the Guinness Book of Records. The scientists didn't use a thermometer. They were also too close to the ice. It was too cold for a thermometer. It is so cold that people cannot breathe. When scientists go outside they use a tube. They breathe the warm air close to their skin.
