Gabriel García Márquez, one of the greatest writers ever, died at his home. He was 87. The Colombian won the Nobel Prize in Literature. People in Colombia are very sad. Márquez's writing changed people's lives. His book ''Love in the Time of Cholera" is the best selling book in Spanish. He wrote in a style called "magical realism".

Barack Obama said the world just lost one of its greatest writers. Bill Clinton said he was amazed by Márquez's imagination. Márquez's family said he told stories when he was a little boy - ever since he could speak. Peruvian author Mario Vargas Llosa said: "His novels will survive and will continue to find new readers everywhere."
