Two million workers in the U.K. live with their parents because they cannot buy or rent a home. They are called the "clipped wing generation" because they are like birds with cut wings. U.K. house prices are high. Many young people cannot afford to buy one. Young adults live with their parents because of housing costs. Young British people move away from their family when they start working. High house prices are making this more difficult.
One woman has been saving money for ten years to buy an apartment. It is difficult because prices keep going up. She is worried about the future. She doesn't want to rent because rents are expensive. She said: "The thought that I'm going to be living like a teenager into my late 30s or even 40s is really disheartening." A charity said Britain must build more homes and sell them at a price that young people can afford.
