READING:

There is a new danger. Criminals are selling fake food. It is very dangerous. There are many examples of this. In Britain, the label said "beef" but it was horse meat. In China, six babies died when they drank fake milk powder. Gangs make a lot of money from fake food. It is safer than selling drugs.

Food crime is like drugs crime. Criminals sell fake food similar to the way drug dealers sell drugs. Police in 33 countries found big problems. Children's candies were poisonous. There was cheap rice in bags that said "high-quality basmati rice". Food crime is a difficult problem. Technology might be the answer to stop it.
