READING:

California has a very bad drought. Water is at very low levels. The government has tried to stop water running out. Farmers will now help. They will try to use 25 per cent less water. California's leader cut water use in cities by 25 per cent. City people were angry. They wanted farmers and other people to use less water too.

Over 30 million people need water in California. The California water system is the biggest in the world. It has many problems. Too many people want water. Farmers need it to grow food. City people need it to live. Golf course owners and people with swimming pools also use too much water. California’s population will soon be 50 million.
