The Esports World Cup has ended. The eight-week-long competition was held in Saudi Arabia. Thirty teams from around the world competed in 22 games. The winner of the World Cup was Team Falcons. They won $7 million. The total prize money at the World Cup was $60 million. On Tuesday, Team Falcons faced off against Team Neymar Jr, led by the Brazilian soccer star Neymar. Neymar's side beat Team Falcons 2-1. Team Falcons won two major games in Saudi and were runners-up in two. They came top in Call of Duty and in Free Fire.
Esports have increased in popularity in the past decade. They are competitive video games that require great skill, quick reactions, and concentration. Gamers take part in a variety of games. These include MOBAs (multiplayer online battle arena) like League of Legends, and first-person shooter games like Fortnite. As with other sports, Esports have their stars. Esports gamers are not household names, yet. However, in the future, they will be famous. They may become global superstars next year. This is when the very first Olympic Esports Games take place.
