He said being Brazil coach was "an important challenge". He added that he wanted "to finish this final stretch and this fantastic adventure" as Madrid coach. Brazil will be the first national team for Ancelotti to manage. Ancelotti is one of the most successful managers ever. He is the only coach to win the top five leagues in Europe. He also won the UEFA Champions League a record five times.

In 2014, Brazil was beaten 7-1 by Germany in the semi-finals. The head of Brazil's football federation hopes Ancelotti can change Brazil's fortunes. He said: "Ancelotti is the greatest coach in history, and now he is at the head of the greatest national team on the planet."
