Despite calls for his resignation, Mr Ford said he would stay in office. He also vowed to fight for a second term in office at the next election. He said he would continue doing the job he was elected to do. He added: "I know I have to regain your trust and confidence." He told the public that he would never repeat his wrongdoing. At a press conference, he said: "Folks, I have nothing left to hide. I would do anything, absolutely anything to change the past, but the past is the past and we must move forward. I want to be crystal clear. These mistakes will never, ever, ever happen again."
