READING:

The disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is a mystery. He was last seen at the Saudi Arabian consulate in Istanbul on October 2. He went there to process marriage documents. Turkish investigators have searched the Saudi consulate for clues. The Saudi consul left Turkey earlier this week and pressure is growing on Saudi Arabia to explain what happened to Mr Khashoggi. It is believed he spent eleven hours in the consulate. Turkish officials say he was murdered by Saudi agents who flew to Turkey earlier this month. The Saudis deny this.

There is an international outcry over the disappearance. Donald Trump threatened "severe punishment" if Saudi Arabia was involved. He spoke to Saudi's Crown Prince earlier this week and said the prince strongly denied any knowledge of what may have happened to Mr Khashoggi. Mr Trump said the prince's denial was "very strong". He suggested "rogue killers" may be behind Mr Khashoggi's possible death. Turkey's president spoke about the investigation. He hoped to reach a conclusion, "as soon as possible because the investigation is looking into many things".
