The Reading / Listening - Oxford Street - Level 0

London's famous Oxford Street is now only for people. No cars, buses, trucks, etc. can drive on it. Oxford Street is well known for shopping. It used to be full of traffic. London's mayor decided to make around one kilometre of the street only for people. He hopes many shoppers will go to the street. He will plant more trees.

Many people are happy that the street will be less polluted. The mayor said no cars would help make London greener. Around half a million people visit the street every day. However, many Londoners are unhappy. One man said cars would be "pushed" to small streets nearby. He said this would harm the environment.
