Saudi Arabia will build a huge airport. Saudi's Crown Prince said the country's current airport would become a six-runway hub. It will see 120 million travellers by 2030. The airport will change travel in the region. It will be the world's fifth biggest logistics hub. The airport will also increase Saudi's economy. Another big plan is to start a second national airline. This will compete with regional rivals Qatar Airways and the UAE airline Emirates.
The new airport will stretch over 57 square kilometres. A spokesperson said: "The airport project is part of Saudi Arabia's vision to transform Riyadh to be among the top ten city economies in the world. It will help Riyadh's population grow to 15–20 million people by 2030." The new airport will be totally green and sustainable. It will be based on cutting-edge designs. It will be powered by renewable energy.
