READING:

Ferrari has unveiled its first ever fully electric car. The luxury sports car maker showed the car to the world on Monday. It is called Luce, which means "light" in Italian. The new car is also the first five-seater vehicle produced by Ferrari. It is not cheap. Anyone wanting to buy one must have deep pockets, as it costs $640,000. The Ferrari website highlighted why people might want to buy the car. It wrote: "The Ferrari Luce… lies at the heart of an ecosystem of collaborations with outstanding technology partners. We have created a car that combines unique driving emotions with extraordinary performance, driving pleasure, and comfort for the [Ferrari drivers] of today and tomorrow."

The Luce was developed and co-designed by the former Apple chief designer Jony Ive. He was responsible for the designs of the iMac computer, iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch. Many reviewers have said the Luce looks like an "Apple car". The Verge website wrote: "Luce looks almost nothing like a Ferrari. In fact, it looks more like something Apple would make." However, the car does have Ferrari's power and speed. It can go from 0-100 kph in 2.5 seconds and has a top speed of over 310 kph. The car has four electric motors — one for each wheel. It also has a range of over 500 kilometres between charges. A Ferrari marketing officer said the Luce was "absolutely stunning".
